“A shadow shall fall over the universe. Evil will grow in its path. Death will come from the skies.”

Thus begins The Legend of Taarna, as the evil entity known as “Lok-Nar” falls from the sky as a giant green meteor that crashes into a mountain and seeps green liquid over the landscape. The green liquid infects the chieftain of a local village and all his people with the Lok-Nar’s evil and the begin to terrorize the surrounding area by mercilessly mutilating everyone in their path (with no other goal really).

In a nearby city under attack by these mutated villagers we find ourselves watching the city elders summon a champion who is only thought of as a legend, the last of a race of defenders known as “Tarakians.” These defenders were called in times of war and obviously they did a great job because these city folks have no idea how to fight or even use weapons on their own. The real problem is that there hasn’t been a war in so long that the Tarakians are now only a myth. The summoning completes, but our champion fails to arrive in time. The champion, a mysterious and beautiful woman known as Taarna, arrives to a city full of corpses that have been hacked to pieces by the invaders.
“To defend: This is The Pact. But when life loses it’s value, and is taken for naught - then The Pact is, To Avenge.”
After the grim discovery, Taarna goes on to Avenge the city’s people.
She tracks down some of the killers and finds the same symbol on their gear as she found clutched in the hand of one of the dead village elders. After an altercation at the pub she visited where the murderers were brutalizing the local populace, Taarna forces the barkeeper to tell her where the invaders are located.

On her way to the encampment she is captured and tortured, but manages to escape and kill the chieftain that was leading the mutated army. She then proceeds to destroy the god-entity “Lok-Nar” by sacrificing her own life in an explosion of power from her sword, Novera.
This is where her story in Tamriel begins. At the end of the Heavy Metal movie it was clear that a new Tarakian was born to take the place of Taarna after her sacrifice. While it seemed that Taarna had perished, it appears that the universe is not balanced yet. She arrived confused and shaken near Dragons Bridge with only her sword and armor. After discovering the danger posed to Tamriel by the dragons, she began to work with the locals to defend them from the threat. Word has spread across Skyrim of her deeds. A talented Blacksmith helped her modify her armor and a mage from The College of Winterhold added enchantments to protect her in the fight to come. Taarna’s powers have diminished since arriving in Tamriel. Even the Mark of the Tarakian has disappeared from her neck. Her sword, Novera, has only a sliver of the god-killing power it had before. Yet her duty remains the same. To defend, or... avenge. This is where the Dragonborn enters the story. It is up to you to enlist Taarna to your cause and end the threat to Tamriel..
